Flagstaff, Arizona — For most of the past decade, the Flagstaff Real Estate Association has had its sights set on expanding the town’s population.
But as the number of residents continues to fall, the group is looking to expand further into the future.
“We have a lot of opportunities in Flagtown,” said Doug Vickers, the president of the group, which operates more than 250 properties.
“We’ve been able to build out some new office and retail space, we’ve built out some more office and commercial space, and we’ve got a new hotel that we’re opening soon.”
Vickers says the group hopes to open a new office on the first floor of the hotel by the end of this year.
But the hotel will be located in the same building that houses the state Capitol.
Vickers said the real estate association wants to use the new hotel to provide a better experience for its members and their families, and also to attract new businesses to the area.
“You’re seeing more and more businesses, businesses that are really going to have to make the jump to Flagtown and to the larger downtown area,” he said.
“There’s so much to offer to people in Flagfield, and it’s a great opportunity for people to come and be a part of it.”
While there’s no firm timeline for when the hotel’s first floor will open, Vickers said it’s anticipated that the hotel would open by the middle of next year.
