A new way to resell homes for money has come under fire from those who say it can be exploitative.
A group of real estate agents have launched a new website that allows people to buy and sell homes for free.
“It’s a very simple thing that I can do,” said Mark Schmitz, a real estate agent who launched the site, which was launched by real estate website realestate.com.au.
“The best part about it is it’s not too complicated.
I can put it on a blog, I can just post it on my social media, and then people can come and read it and see what it is all about.”
The website is called estate sales and lets anyone sign up and buy or sell a home for $20,000.
It is a small step for those who want to get into the real estate market.
It allows for people to rent out their homes for $200 a week, buy them for $300 a week and sell them for up to $1 million a week.
“We’re in a situation where the market is extremely volatile and people are having to sell houses for $1.2 million a year to keep their houses affordable,” Mr Schmitos said.
“I think we need to change the way we view it.”
The idea of renting out a home is becoming increasingly popular among those looking to buy or buy a home.
The real estate industry has faced a wave of speculation about the viability of the rental market and a rise in the number of people buying and selling homes.
But Mr Schmetz said that there was no evidence that the industry was becoming more exploitative, and he said that some of the people who signed up for the site did so for the wrong reasons.
“It is not a perfect solution, but I think it’s a step in the right direction,” he said.
The website currently has only about 10 sign ups but Mr Schmettz said it was a start.
“There are people out there that are just doing this because they want to buy something, they want a house to live in,” he told ABC News Breakfast.
“Some of these people have a lot of money, a lot to lose, and they’re just going to do it.”
Mr Schmittz said that while some people might be motivated to buy a property for a low price, others may be motivated by a lack of affordability.
“What people are saying is ‘I want to live closer to work, I want to have more of a chance of getting a good job’, and I think that’s what they’re doing,” he explained.
Mr Schmettz said it would be up to the government to decide how to regulate the industry.
He said that a key concern for him was that people would not be able to access the website without the government’s approval.
“You could be the owner of a house and you could sell it for $100,000 and the owner could get a $1m profit, but they’re not going to be able, in my opinion, access to it because of a government program,” he added.
Federal Minister for Housing Michaelia Cash has also spoken out about the issue.
“This is a problem that has to be tackled,” Ms Cash told ABC Radio.
“Property speculation and estate selling is very, very bad, and it is an issue that we need urgently to address.”
