Real estate agents and real estate investors often complain about the cost of renting a home.
But according to the National Association of Realtors, California and Florida are the two states with the highest median rents, and California’s median is $3,800.
The median rents for rental properties in other states, however, vary widely, from $1,900 in New York to more than $6,000 in Illinois.
Some states also have higher median rent limits, such as the states of Idaho, Michigan and Wyoming.
The NAR’s median rent ranges from $3.00 in Utah to $2,100 in Colorado.
Rental prices vary widely according to income, and many homes are more affordable than others.
Median home values in the U.S. are currently at an all-time high, with prices averaging $1.9 million, according to data from the Real Estate Board of California.
And although prices have risen in many parts of the country, the median income for renters has not, according the RealHomeRentals.com website.
The average annual household income for renter households in California is $62,000, according a 2015 analysis by The Associated Press.
But the median rent for a single-family home in the state is $1 and the median rents range from $2.50 in Los Angeles to $3 in San Francisco.
The most expensive city for renting is Los Angeles, with the median asking price at $2 million.
San Francisco is second at $1 million, followed by Washington, D.C. and San Diego.
The least expensive city is Seattle, with a median asking value of $7,000.
The United States is home to nearly 2 million renters, according in-person rentals, and some 20 percent of renters live in cities outside of the nation’s capital.
